Journal History

After the collapse of the USSR, in 1994 the distribution of the central journal «Power engineering: research, equipment, technology». ceased throughout Russia. Series “Power Engineering ", were published in Belarus. The absence of such a periodical has significantly limited the opportunities for training highly qualified personnel for a key industry – power engineering.

In this regard, the Kazan branch of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (KFMEI) applied to the Ministry of General and Professional Education with a proposal which was  supported by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan, for the publication of a new journal «Power engineering: research, equipment, technology». on its own printing complex. In January 1999, the decision of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in conjunction with the Kazan State Power Engineering Institute (KSEI) established a scientific, technical and production journal «Power engineering: research, equipment, technology».

The journal was registered with the State Committee of the Russian Federation for printing - registration certificate No. 018450 of 21.01.1999. In connection with the renaming of one of the founders, the journal was re-registered in 2001 in the Ministry of Press, TV and Radio Broadcasting and Mass Media - PI No. 77- 7322 of February 19, 2001.

As Editor-in-chief of the journal «Power engineering: research, equipment, technology», the Ministry approved the Honored Science Worker of Russia and Tatarstan, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of KSPEI, Nazmiev Yuri Gayazovich. The editorial board of the journal included prominent scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academiy of sciences of the Republic of Tatarsat (RT), leading specialists of a number of Russian universities, heads of enterprises and departments of the power engineering complex. Professor Shlyannikov V.N. was appointed as deputy editor-in-chief,  professor Zolotonosov Ya.D.  as the responsible secretary of the journal.

The list of the main headings of the journal in those years was quite wide: it included the names of classical disciplines for power engineering and was gradually supplemented with new topical directions. As a publication relating to higher education, the journal contained a section on education in the field of power engineering.

In 2001, the journal entered a certain Highest Qualification Committee list of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications in which the main scientific results of the thesis for the degree of doctor and PhD doctor of science should be published.

The journal printed articles from all over Russia, the CIS (Near East) and abroad: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, China, Poland, Germany.

The articles were abstracted in the RI VINITI "Heat and mass transfer", "Energy", "Non-traditional and renewable energy sources".

The journal was sent to the addresses of information centers and libraries of Russia, members of the Department of Power engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics and Control Processes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, distributed by subscription and at the request of organizations.

In 2006, in connection with the death of the editor-in-chief of the journal Nazmeev Yu.G., the editorial board structure of the journal changed. The new chief editor of the journal was the rector of the Kazan State Power engineering University (KSPEU) professor Petrushenko Yuri Yakovlevich, the first deputy editor-in-chief - vice-rector for scientific work and information professor Saitov I.Kh., deputy editor-in-chief for heat power engineering - Professor Konakhina I.A.,  and for the electric power industry - Professor Minullin R.G.

In different years the responsible secretaries of the journal were: Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Zolotonosov Ya.D., Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor Golenishchev-Kutuzov A.V., Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Kornilov V .Yu. (till 2016).

In 2015, the editor-in-chief and the editorial staff of the journal changed again. The editor-in-chief of the journal was the rector of the KSPEU, the Honored Power Engineer of the Republic of Tatarstan, the PhD Doctor of technical sciences Abdullazyanov Edward Yunusovich, the Deputy editor-in-chief - vice-rector for scientific work, Doctor (PhD) of Technical Sciences Shamsutdinov E.V.

At present, the journal «Power engineering: research, equipment, technology». is a peer-reviewed scientific publication, which covers fundamental and applied research, as well as discussion issues on power engineering and related industries and science.

The journal publishes articles, corresponding to the group of specialties 05.14.00 - "Power Engineering", 05.04.00 - "Power, Metallurgical and Chemical Engineering", 05.09.00 - "Electrical Engineering", 05.11.00 - "Instrument-Making, Metrology and Information-Measuring Devices and systems ", 01.04.00 -" Physics ", brief reports; reference materials, reviews and scientific reviews. The heading "In relevance with the discussion" is organized, and for the support of creative youth the heading "Toward the defense of the thesis" is created.

The publication is included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications in which the main scientific results of thesis for obtaining the scientific degree of a PhD and academic degree of a Doctor of science must be published. The journal is included in the system of the Russian Scientific Citation Index (RINC), in the international subscription catalog of periodicals "Ulrich's Periodicals Directory". The journal's issues are posted on the website of the Scientific Electronic Library (NEB).
